OUTERWEAR ARCHETYPE STUDY: DUFFEL COAT
This project was a study on the codes of the archetype of the duffel coat. As a researched this coat I found rather fun interpretations of this originaly practical garment in Paddington Bear stuffed animals. These toys wore the characters iconic blue duffel coat but instead of all the functional constructional in a life size coat, these small bear wore versions with trompe l’oeil finishing made of felt. I was inspired by this idea of non functional closures and stitches to creature a scaled up duffel coat with all of the stitching and finishings done with spray paint.
