SPRING 26: Custom Knit Sweater Cecelia Grip

During a recent freelance commission for a current senior student at Parsons Paris, I was tasked with developing and hand-knitting a custom sweater based on the client’s measurements and visual references. The project required translating reference imagery into a fully engineered knit design while working within a tight production timeline.

This piece was developed as part of the client’s final collection work and required both technical precision and flexibility throughout the design process.

  • Interpreted inspiration images and client references to develop the knit concept
  • Engineered the sweater pattern to the client’s exact measurements and fit requirements
  • Selected knit structures and construction methods to achieve the desired silhouette and texture
  • Knitted the final garment by hand within a short turnaround deadline
  • Maintained communication with the client throughout the process to refine details and ensure alignment with the original vision

The final sweater was completed on a swift schedule and integrated into the client’s collection development. The project strengthened my experience in knitwear construction, custom garment development, and managing technically demanding handmade work under time constraints.
